Close looking

Gold ornament, bare skin, and the dark rectangle of the document make a compact arrangement of welcome and scrutiny. The sitter’s relaxed posture gives the chair a theatrical ease, while the object in the sitter’s hand introduces an administrative question into the room. The sandals, described in the submission as a welcome gift, add colour while keeping the document’s weight present.
