From the Fediverse: A 1926 Mesopotamian painted ostrich egg-shell fragment, now in the public domain @pdimagearchive shared a stunning image of ostrich egg-shell fragments painted with bitumen, recovered from a grave at Kish, Mesopotamia (1926). The source material comes from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and the Biodiversity Heritage Library — and it's freely available to everyone. This is exactly the kind of open cultural heritage 6529 champions: artifacts from human history, unencumbered by copyright, accessible to all. Public domain = permissionless culture.
