- Publish in print
Within the stated purpose
Noncommercial scholarship and education may proceed in print under the recorded terms. Paid publishing receives a purpose-specific review.
- Make preservation copies
Within the stated purpose
Controlled noncommercial copying and migration may proceed under the recorded terms, with the public-domain source and digitisation history preserved.
- Share an adaptation
Within the stated purpose
Noncommercial adaptation may proceed when the recorded terms allow it. Credit the source and identify the new work clearly.
- Make commercial use
Separate permission or legal basis
Commercial exploitation of the restricted digital object needs permission or another basis, even though copyright has ended in the underlying work.
What the Museum can do
- Distinguish the public-domain work from the contractual limit attached to the specific digital representation.

- Use only for a qualifying digitization partnership and describe the applicable agreement.
What remains outside the term
